Angela J. Pitale

Angela joined MultiState in 2022 as Senior Tax Policy Advisor to help clients identify and advance state tax policy objectives. Prior to joining MultiState, Angela spent nearly 25 years in various tax roles with NextEra Energy, the world’s largest developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy from solar and wind, and the owner of Florida Power & Light, one of the largest utilities in the country. In her most recent role as Senior Director of State Tax Policy, Angela successfully advanced several policy initiatives benefiting the company, the renewable energy industry, and the corporate community in general and helped to defeat a number of unfavorable tax policy initiatives. This was a newly created role at the company and Angela set a high bar with the value she delivered in this role. Prior to moving into the policy role much of her time at NextEra was spent leading the Tax M&A group responsible for tax planning for all new business development and acquisition transactions. During her tenure, she was also responsible for income tax accounting under generally accepted accounting principles (ASC740) and sales & use tax compliance and controversy. Some of her accomplishments included implementing software systems, leading a major international tax restructuring, and acting as tax lead for an initial public offering of NextEra Energy Partners, a spin-off of a NextEra subsidiary. Prior to joining NextEra Energy, Angela began her career in tax with KPMG. She has served on the Legislative Steering Committee of the Council On State Taxation (COST), chaired the SALT Committee of Tax Executives Institute (TEI), and has been active on multiple tax committees of state chambers of commerce and renewable energy trade groups. She has also been an active participant in the National Conference of State Legislature’s (NCSL) State and Local Task Force. Angela is a CPA and has a Master of Accounting degree with tax specialization from Florida Atlantic University. She lives in Jupiter, Florida with her husband, Frank. When not working, Angela enjoys playing piano and spending time in the mountains snow skiing or hiking with family and friends.
