Jay Wimberly
Senior Director, Local Operations
Jay Wimberly joined MultiState in 2005 and currently serves as Senior Director. Jay oversees the local government division of MultiState's Issue Management solution. He and his team monitor the actions of thousands of localities — cities, counties, townships, and special districts. Jay was instrumental in creating and launching MultiState's local government monitoring service more than 15 years ago. He helped develop and continuously refines a sophisticated process to alert clients to activity in more than 4,750 local jurisdictions (a number that’s growing every day).
As with our state tracking services, MultiState's local government monitoring is founded on the work of our experienced policy analysts, not scattershot keyword searching. On the local level, a casual conversation can turn into an ordinance practically overnight. Timing is imperative, so as soon as Jay and his team learn about an agenda item, they alert our clients.
Jay manages and develops MultiState's team of policy analysts who are dedicated to monitoring local government action. He is also responsible for ensuring the quality and timeliness of our local monitoring deliverables. Jay is the primary liaison to our local monitoring clients, and he assists with educating prospective clients and onboarding new clients. Finally, Jay coordinates closely with MultiState's engineering team to maintain MultiState's industry-leading monitoring platform.
Prior to joining MultiState, Jay was an assistant researcher at a government relations firm. He also previously worked in Congress.
Jay holds a degree in American history from the University of Maryland, College Park. He resides in West Springfield, Virginia, enjoys attending music concerts, and adores spending time with his wife and two young children, Jackson and Josephine.
