Rob Shrum

Rob is Senior Advisor at MultiState, joining the firm in 2019 with extensive advocacy, fundraising, and government affairs experience. He is responsible for driving growth and supporting clients through MultiState’s service lines with a specific expertise in external affairs and stakeholder engagement solutions. He takes pride in offering thorough rapid response strategic counsel to achieve clients’ goals. Previously, Shrum was Vice President of External Affairs for the National Taxpayers Union (NTU) and National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF). In this senior management role, he led development operations, spearheaded issue campaigns, and assisted with the overall management and strategic planning for both organizations. Before NTU, Rob worked at CTIA and directed federal and state-level grassroots advocacy campaigns and third-party group advocacy initiatives for the wireless industry. Prior to that, he held prominent roles with the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and the Tax Foundation. Rob’s professional background and expertise also includes campaign consulting, national politics, and technology policy. He is currently a senior advisor to the Center for Growth and Opportunity at Utah State University. Rob holds a Master’s Degree in Political Management from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Middle Tennessee State University. He is an avid fan of the 2019 World Series Champion Washington Nationals and resides in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland with his wife and three children.
